Companies who undergo tough times during the course of the business sometimes resort to options like mass lay off. This means a huge number of employees are relieved from their jobs. To prevent these employees from ending up unemployed, there are now provisions concerning reemployment services.
Reemployment is the return to service of a worker who has been previously laid off. This also includes other programs like transfer companies where the laid off employees are transferred to a company almost the same as their previous one. This is to ensure that no worker ends up unemployed.
This can also work for people who have been laid off from their previous companies and after some time are called again to work for the same company. During these situations, the length of layoff is usually inconsequential. These programs involve several services like rapid response assistance, career counseling, job placement assistance, and job development.
Specific
reemployment services like training is available to assist workers to obtain a new job in a different field. Workers may receive more than 100 days of approved and legitimate training in occupational skills and basic education on other fields. This will allow them to consider careers other than what they had before. This also gives them more chance to land other jobs and learn other skills which may need more employees than those they had before.
Job search support and income allowance are also examples of
reemployment services. These services mean there are weekly payments available from up to more than 50 weeks after the workers used their unemployment benefits from the compensation program. Income support is a combination of the unemployment compensation and the trade readjustment allowance benefits for a maximum of 78 weeks. The job search support on the other hand is payable to cover expenses while the worker is looking for a replacement job.
There are other services like the rapid response assistance, where a state is immediately informed of the possibility of a layoff. These particular
reemployment services allow employees to prepare for the layoff and look for another job immediately. This also gives other employees to evaluate laid off workers and pick out those who would be able to work for another company. The others who were not chose can immediately undergo training that could improve and add useful information which they could use to apply to different jobs.
